Summer Academies
Get out of the house and into college this summer
Spend three days on PTI’s campus learning about design or technology careers with other high school students. Spend two evenings in off-campus housing getting to know other students who share your career interests.
Spend a bit of your summer having fun while making tracks toward your future. Choose the academy the best matches your talents, passions, and future goals.

Design Academy

- Multimedia Technologies
- Graphic Design

Develop your creativity and skills and explore these design fields: computer aided drafting or multimedia technologies and graphic design. All demand personal creativity, but solve problems and visually communicate differently. Enhance your computer design skills in the CAD-architectural/mechanical or the multimedia/graphic design areas as you begin the process of deciding which career path is right for you.

Learn a little about electronics, computer systems, and home/commercial systems integration. Amplify your electronics understanding, network your IT skills, even figure out what it takes to create an awesome home theater system. These three distinct areas of technology share common concepts and universal fundamentals and offer tremendous opportunities for career growth.
Details
- Designed for 2009 and 2010 high school grads.
- Cost: $250.
This covers academy registration, accommodations, meals, bus transportation, events and entertainment. - Attendees reside at a neighboring hotel.
Accommodations are air conditioned and include bedding, bath towels, TV, iron and hair dryer. - Weather permitting, there’s swimming, bowling, volleyball and a scavenger hunt.
- Items to bring: casual clothes, beach towel and bathing suit, sweatshirt/sweater, personal items.
- Academy provides private bus transportation from hotel accommodations to PTI and all events.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner plus evening snacks are provided.
- Registration begins Aug. 3 at 9:30 am at PTI’s North Fayette Campus.
- Academy ends with a lunch Aug. 5. at 12 Noon. Your family is welcome to join us.
How to Register:
Step 1:
Complete and electronically submit the online academy pre-registration form. Once it is received by the academy registrar, someone from PTI’s High School Relations department will contact you to confirm your interest and answer any questions you have about PTI’s Summer Academies.
Step 2:
To complete your registration, you must submit the paperwork you receive from the academy registrar along with your $250 registration fee.
Summer Academies are open to any interested 2009 or 2010 high school graduate regardless of future postsecondary plans. There is no obligation to apply for admission at Pittsburgh Technical Institute.
However, Design Academy or Technology Academy participants who do choose to apply to PTI receive a $200 tuition credit.
